The 2015 (13% alc./$10.00) starts with an intense dark red in the glass. There are strong aromas of ripe purple plum and dark cherry, with tastes of black licorice (which gives it a slightly medicinal taste), cherries and ripe strawberries. The tastes become more complex and smoother as the wine opens.
This is a coat-your-mouth, richly textured wine, with high acidity, soft tannins, and a fruity, spicy, long finish.
Tormaresca is part of the Antinori portfolio of wineries producing wines from autochtonous Italian varietals. This red blend is a great value for the money.
Spicy pizza, beef and pasta dishes, and hard cheeses and salami would pair well with this wine.
