Villa Pozzi Nero d'Avola is a red wine from Sicily, Italy. We have been enjoying Nero d’Avola winesfor some time now because they're so drinkable, approachable and food friendly. It’s a nice alternative to a Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, or Merlot and has a lighter mouthfeel. Besides, it's a delicious, underrated wine for less than $10.
Dining out one spring evening at a favorite Neapolitan pizzeria, we chose a bottle of Nero d’Avola wine to accompany our meal. Not being entirely familiar with this varietal, I was curious to know more. Nero d’Avola is a dark black grape with origins in the Italian island of Sicily where the climate is primarily warm and dry.
