Wine Review - Shannon Ridge Urgency Pinot Noir

Shannon Ridge Winery lies in the lesser known California wine region of Lake County. Located north of Napa Valley, the wines produced in the Lake County AVA are influenced by its high elevation, volcanic soils rich with minerals, and by Clear Lake which is California's largest inland body of water. This wine region has over 30 wineries with over 9,000 acres of vineyards.

Wine Review - Educated Guess Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Educated Guess 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon was purchased based on...an educated guess. I was searching for a Cabernet to serve with beef tenderloin for an upcoming dinner party. The label intrigued me and when I read that it was a Napa Cab, I decided I couldn't go wrong. I'm glad my 'educated guess' was correct - this is a great Cabernet for the price.

Wine Review - OVR Old Vine Rosé 2018

The wine is pale pink in the glass with extremely mild aromas of pear, lemon and grass. On the palate, the wine is tart with plenty of acidity and minerality. The finish is smooth, long, dry and creamy. This California Rosé was aged in neutral oak for 3 months with weekly lees stirring. The grapes included in this wine were hand-picked from some of the oldest vines in California.

Wine Review - Uvaggio Vermentino 2016

Pouring the wine, this Vermentino has a light straw-yellow color in the glass with aromas of lemon, chamomile and grass. Tasting the wine, there are notes of citrus, green apple and honey. The acidity is well balanced and not overpowering with a buttery, mineral finish at the end. The folks at Uvaggio believe wine should be fun to drink.
