Straight Shooter Pinot Noir is produced by Maison L'Envoye ('The House of the Messenger'). Founded by film producer turned winemaker, Mark Tarlov, Maison L'Envoye has a presence in the top Pinot Noir growing areas of Burgundy, France, Willamette Valley, Oregon, Central Otago, New Zealand and Tasmania. They source fruit and promote lesser-known but highly talented growers in these areas to craft wines that represent the regions in which they are grown.
Straight Shooter is produced in Willamette Valley, where the grapes used to make this wine are handpicked when the fruit is full and ripe.
In the glass, the wine pours ruby red. On the nose, there are aromas of dark cherry, purple plums, earth, oak and spice. On the palate, there's a powerful fruit-forward berry-burst in the mouth with the same earth, oak and spiciness. It lingers long with a smooth finish, soft tannins and balanced acidity.
It's a nice Pinot to drink alone or with food. James Suckling gives this wine 91 Points.
