Located in Toscana, Italy, Renieri is part of the Bacci Wines portfolio of estates. The Renieri estate is in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation where Sangiovese is the predominant varietal produced. In Italy, the term ‘in vetro’ means ‘in the glass’.
This Tuscan-style red blend, a combination of Sangiovese (50%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), pours ruby red in the glass. On the nose, there are aromas of red plums and raspberry. On the palate there is pronounced acidity with tastes of tart blueberries and cherries. The tannins are firm and balanced. The finish is semi-dry and smooth.
This is a pleasant wine to drink with or without food but would pair well with beef and lamb dishes or with cured meats and pungent cheese. Instead of a cork or screw cap, this wine is bottled with a glass stopper. James Suckling rates this wine 94 points.
