Confidencial Reserva Tinto Red is a full-bodied red blend wine from Portugal. It's also a great buy currently at $6.99 at Costco and just a few dollars more at other wine retailers.
It's a well-structured wine that pours deep red in the glass. The grapes creating this blend are Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tinta Roriz.  Touriga Nacional is a low yielding grape used in port wine. But over the last few years, this versatile grape has been used to create complex Portuguese wine blends.
There are nice aromas of dark berry and earthy wood. On the palate, there are soft notes of cinnamon, clove and oak with firm tannins and well-balanced acidity. The finish is slightly dry.
The price point may be inexpensive but I wouldn't hesitate serving this red blend wine to even sophisticated wine drinkers. Wine Enthusiast gives Confidencial Reserva 91 points.
Foods to Pair with this Wine
This Portuguese red wine is extremely food friendly and pairs well with a variety of foods including seafood, shellfish or flatiron steak.
